Welcome to Framework, an exclusive event that brings together the local games industry to discuss and develop the strategies required for ongoing sustainability and growth.
Each Framework event comprises a series of talks or workshops, and each speaker challenged to create a presentation that engages the audience and inspires conversation, debate and lively interaction.
Launched in 2008, Framework was a fantastic success with an unprecedented level of interaction between speakers and audience members. Framework encourages audience participation and in this involvement seek to identify or address industry issues and determine solutions.
A substantial component of Framework is the inclusion of the film industry. Key members of the film industry are invited to attend and speak at each Framework event. The more mature processes of the film industry can serve as motivators to the younger games industry, and the film industry is able to better understand games, the industry’s impact on modern culture and the opportunities that exist in the space.
In a survey at the conclusion of Framework :create, design was highlighted by attendees as the discipline that required the most attention for the local game development industry.
Design Aikido will focus heavily on the changing needs of today’s gamer and look at the importance of story in games in the future. From two of the games’ industry’s leading writer/designers and a successful Hollywood writer/director/artist attendees at Design Aikido will get an unprecedented look at the inner workings of a Hollywood movie and multi-million unit selling games.
For film makers seeking to understand the games market and screenwriters seeking to understand the differences in writing for games, Design Aikido will provide access to local and international players that can offer the right advice and guidance.
Design Aikido will also feature a critical look at the game market today and analyze market data to determine what’s working, why it’s working and what opportunities exist for the local industry. The event will also feature a expository review of film/game tie-ins, with a special focus on the reasons for success or failure in the category.
